Over the last couple of days we have seen quite a lot of movement on our Discord, as well as in the game, and to be completely honest.. IT’S EXTREMELY ENCOURAGING! We love your engagement during the alpha playtests so far, and hope that you keep it up, whilst we focus on improving the game in every aspect.
Mobile support
Since this announcement is all about listening to your feedback, we would like to show you that we take it seriously, and we really meant it when we said we would like to build this project with our community. A lot of you have mentioned how nice it would be if we had a mobile version of our game, which was not our initial target for alpha, although not something we entirely excluded for a future release either.
So.. the future is here! We had conversations internally about supporting mobile devices as soon as we received your feedback and decided to start working on it immediately. Further, given the position we are in currently, it won’t be a lie when we say that the progress has been great so far and you can expect some results in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned and keep an eye on leaks.
Patch notes v0.5
Most of you might have already seen those on Discord, because we posted an update every single time we pushed out new release. However, we feel like it would be good to summarise everything we’ve done since last Friday, after a week of alpha, in one blog post. Below are all the changes we have rolled out so far:
Account & characters
- Sign in with a login: email sign-up now asks for a login, and sign-in works with either login or email. The form no longer asks for a name.
- Account deletion with a 14-day grace period. Signing in during that time cancels the deletion.
- Character names are unique (case-insensitive). The creation wizard checks availability as the name is typed, and the chosen name is held for 15 minutes while creation is finished.
- A name change costs 500 fCoin, once every 30 days. A free change ignores the wait and is used up instantly. Available from the shortcut on the character’s own profile, hold to confirm. Restricted accounts cannot change their name.
- An old name stays reserved for its previous owner for 30 days. A name taken away by a moderator never goes back into the pool. Existing duplicate names were renamed and given a free change.
- Characters that have played matches or traded on the market can now be deleted.
- Player #code next to the name on the profile and the player card.
- The profile flag splits in two when nationality and national team are different.
- Alpha: one account can have several of its characters in the same club.
- Language (EN/PL) can be switched on the login, sign-up and character screens.
Matches
- New post-match summary: scorers, assists and cards under each team’s name, man of the match under the score, both line-ups with ratings, and both player sheets as sortable tables.
- Line-ups everywhere (match tab, club pages, squad editor) are drawn on the same pitch, with clear tokens showing OA and shirt number. Drag and drop still works in the squad editor.
- The chosen shirt number is now the one worn in matches.
- Minutes played are now real match minutes (a full match is 90, not 15). Matches already played were recounted.
- Pre-match line-ups now say that a minor or moderate injury applies negative effect to the player’s performance during the match.
- In-match injuries show the type, the minute and what they cost (pace, accuracy). A serious knock prompts a substitution.
- After a substitution, corners, free kicks in range and final-third throw-ins wait until the sub reaches position. Subs who come on now have their condition displayed to their own club members.
- Upcoming matches show the kick-off day and time next to the countdown. A cancelled match shows a message instead of a lineup error.
- A match kicks off in each club’s currently saved formation, not the one saved when friendly challenge was sent. League matches no longer fall back to 4-3-3.
- Friendly challenge notification opens the club overview for acceptance, instead of the match page.
- Replays of finished matches no longer reveal the opponent’s overall ratings.
- Match view is smoother when its tiles are resized.
- Pre-match tactics panel is hidden for now, together with live tactics.
Match engine
- Penalties and shots headed on target but deflected or saved by the keeper, now count as on target and as goals scored by the player taking the shot.
- A shot that hits a team-mate no longer counts as a block.
- A substitution can no longer hold up a restart forever.
- Kick-off after a goal comes twice as fast.
- Free kicks are no longer aimed at players who have left the pitch.
- Throw-ins no longer fly unrealistically fast.
- At a goal kick, players leaving the box jog out instead of strolling.
- The number of substitutions left is now the same everywhere it is shown.
Friendlies
- Friendly challenges are now a negotiation: kick-off time, host, gate money split and a message can be agreed. Both sides can send counter-offers, and every proposal has its own deadline.
- Accepted friendlies have their own group on the day’s scoreboard.
Clubs & transfers
- The squad list shows what is needed to pick the eleven: fatigue, OA, form, appearances, minutes, average rating, goals, assists, tackles, key passes, saves, clean sheets and cards, for this season or for the player’s whole time at the club. Every column can be sorted, and injury and ban marks sit next to the name. Tables highlight the row and column under the cursor.
- Upcoming matches, friendly challenges and proposals on the club page are listed soonest first.
- Club invites are gone: free agents can be found by name on the transfer board and sent an offer. Offers show the club behind them, and own offers can be withdrawn.
- Club names are listed in the Join a Club view and clicking on the contract offer opens the club card.
- Characters can now deposit money into a club where another character of the same account plays or is the owner. The club finance log shows who deposited money and whose wages were paid.
- Paying wages is now one expandable transaction showing who got paid. Players get a notification when their wage lands. “Pay all” is now hold-to-confirm and no longer fires on Enter.
- Leaving a club is a 24h notice that can be withdrawn. If the club owes wages, departure does not cost fans. Owners and staff with Squad permission are notified when a player hands in notice, withdraws it or leaves.
- The club Overview shows a log of who joined and who left. The Members table can be sorted.
- A draw now shows as yellow in club form, scouting and negotiations.
- Back (Esc) from a club tab returns to the club overview.
- New club names can only use letters, digits and basic punctuation.
- Fixed: players who joined in another way kept showing an “Offer in progress” in the applications list.
- Fixed: club owners could’ve been bought by other clubs.
Players & training
- Attribute values now match what the match engine uses everywhere: training + gear + synergy. The breakdown now shows the gear bonus.
- The pre-match warm-up shows on the timeline and in training placement.
- The drill library shows the level for each attribute group.
- Recovery drills now refund more fatigue when they follow a good drill and less after a poor one.
- An instant-complete card used with no training running is refused, and the card is kept.
- The position label on the player card is easier to read.
Agents
- Every open agent mission has an action button. It either does the task right there or opens the screen where the task needs to be done.
- Agent mission text is clearer (proper plurals, no repetition).
- In the agent conversation, Enter advances, not Escape. The conversation scrolls smoothly and shows a hint when scrolled up.
- The agent shop header no longer wraps in Polish.
Season track, packs & rewards
- Season track refresh: new state icons, a star on major levels, and every card shows at a glance whether its reward is claimed, claimable, in progress or locked. The track opens on the level currently being worked towards.
- Claiming a reward plays a reveal scene showing what was received.
- Login streak rewards now wait to be claimed and open with a reward reveal. VIPs get a streak shield that forgives one missed day every 7. The home screen has a streak panel.
- Inventory tabs show how many new items they hold, and new items have a NEW badge on them.
Achievements
- New achievement: Wrong End, for own goals in official matches. Top tiers unlock the titles Own Goal Specialist and Double Agent.
- PLAYER and the ACHIEVEMENTS tab show a marker when something can be claimed. Claimable rows are highlighted and always show their Claim button. Achievement tabs show a dot when something can be claimed.
Items, shop & market
- Item panel shows up front whether an item can be traded on the market and what it quick-sells for. Non-tradable cards have a lock. This works in the agent’s shop offers too.
- Item names no longer include the slot. On the market the slot is in the Type column, and in item details it sits next to the rarity.
- Sellers can change the price of a listed item. Purchases only go through at the price shown - if the seller changed it, a notice appears and nothing is charged. Raising a price only charges the listing fee above what was already paid.
- A market item now sells only once, so the seller is paid exactly once. Market stats separate listing activity from completed sales; unsold listings show neutral prices.
- Daily shop offers can’t be opened or used before purchase.
- Shop and market prices turn red only when something cannot be afforded.
- The copy picker in the inventory scrolls instead of overlapping the Effect section.
- Item art preloads, so it no longer flickers when the inventory or rewards are opened.
Chat & community
- Chat explains why writing is blocked (mute, DM ban, account too new, unverified email), with a live countdown.
- The chat shortcut shows badges for mentions and unread DMs. @mentions are clickable and open the right player, even after a rename or when two players share a name.
- New bell next to the message box in each room. “Mentions only” or “All messages” can be picked. With “All messages”, any new message in that room lights its tab. Chat shows @ only for an unseen mention or reply; other new messages show a dot.
- Replies to messages in rooms and DMs. A reply notifies the person that was messaged. Messages are grouped by day under a sticky date header.
- @ suggestions in club and league chat list people from that room first. Typing @Name counts as a mention. Unread mentions are saved between sessions, and the chat button works while a dialog is open.
- A dot on COMMUNITY in the main menu and on the Following and Club feed tabs when there are new posts. A notification is sent when a followed player posts. Posts from blocked players no longer show in the feed. Clicking anywhere on a post opens it.
Screen, touch & UI
- On phones, the unreadable scaled screen is replaced by a notice that the mobile version is on its way. Playing is still possible.
- The game now fills wider and taller windows (up to 21:9 and 4:3) instead of showing black bars inside that range.
- Full touch support: squad drag, timeline pan, carousel swipe, tap for tooltips, hold to confirm, and bigger touch targets.
- Esc goes back to the previous section instead of straight to the hub. Shortcut hints in the bottom bar are clickable.
- The Reduced motion setting forces reduced motion. When it’s off, the game follows the system setting.
- A larger browser font no longer breaks the HUD. Sharper characters on low-resolution screens.
- Notifications fit on one line, with correct plurals in Polish and English and times in the local format.
- Panel titles wrap onto a second line instead of being cut off, and Polish letters are no longer clipped.
- Game audio respects the iPad silent switch and no longer stops other music.
- More of the game is translated: injuries, stats, match types and finance charts.
- Uploading an image that is too big or the wrong type now gives a clear error.
- Main menu badges have a new look.
Performance
- 3D characters are capped to a frame rate (30 FPS by default, adjustable in settings) and stop rendering while the window is hidden.
- Removed the always-on 3D background canvas. The ATM and deposit scenes start their own only when needed.
- The club campus redraws only when something changes. On weaker GPUs, Esc keeps working while the stadium loads.
- Music is streamed instead of decoded whole, so the game loads faster and uses less memory.
- The item shop animation is lighter to improve performance.
Website
- Enter the game button in the hero. The game lives at game.fballers.com.
